2 Palmer Siblings Do Not Equal 1 Dead Palmer President‏

I'm enjoying the stuff with Jack's family - I loved the reveal that Dr. Romano is his brother last week (though it struck me not as something they planned, but as something that the producers thought up between last season and this one). I'm a big fan of Paul McCrane (Dr. Romano), so enjoyed all his scenes with Jack. And I like James Cromwell (Jack's dad), but he seemed off his game last night and very wooden in the few scenes he was in. Maybe he'll get better. If they could focus more on Jack and his exploits, I would enjoy the show more, because just about nothing else is working for me. Pretty Boy Palmer is still not a president and I really am not enjoying Peter MacNichol's performance as Captain Conservative. (He really needs an evil laugh or a moustache he can twist maniacally.) I do like Chad Lowe however, (that may be because I watched Life Goes On years ago) so maybe he will shake things up. Powers Boothe from Deadwood is playing the VP next week, so that at least should be interesting. As much as I was not a fan of the actor who played Edgar, I really think they made a mistake killing him off last year. He was irritating, but I preferred his banter with Chloe than the three idiots they have there now. (And if the new Muslim/Arab analyst lady is not evil in some way, I'll be amazed.) The biggest mistake I think the show has made this year is Sister Palmer. I find her more grating than Kim. She is annoying and useless and her scenes are interminable (and apparently pointless because those goons had nothing to do with the terrorists anyway.) Honestly, Dead President Palmer must have been adopted because the other two have no character at all. Lady Macbeth (Palmer's ex-wife) was more like him than his siblings. At least she had a set of balls.
